About Me

Hi. I thought you might like to hear a bit about me and why I have chosen to create this website on family stress relief.  I am Sarah Flynn.  I am 57 and I live in Brighton, UK.  I have three children.  A boy aged 23 and two girls aged 19 and 15.

I have chosen to create a site on stress relief for families because having been a mum for 23 years, I have experienced all the ages and stages of child rearing.  I know about the highs and lows, the ups and downs of having children.  How being a parent can give you the greatest fun and pleasure in the world and how it can also give you some of your darkest and most despairing moments.

During the lifetime of my kids, I have made some unconventional choices:

Giving Birth

I wanted to give birth at home.  Although this did not work out for my first two children - my son was born by Caesarian section as he turned out to be a footling breech baby and my first daughter was also born in hospital only because I had already had a C section and they were worried about the scar holding.  My third daughter was born at home and although that was a painful birth, it was definitely a much better experience than giving birth in hospital.

Raising babies

I chose to have my children sleep in a family bed and also carried them most of the time when they were babies.  I think this led to contented and relaxed babies and young children.  It certainly felt like it made my life easier.

Apart from tetanus for my two older kids - having cut themselves badly enough at various times to end up at hospital - none of my kids has had any vaccinations.  Even when my daughter went travelling to SE Asia last year, she decided to go without having any and came back absolutely fine.

My son went to school until he was 6 and my daughter, of her own choice, went to school for two terms but otherwise they have all been entirely home schooled.  Definitely one of the best decisions I ever made.  I think my relationship with my kids is very good and it was such fun spending so much time with them and learning together.  I have also made some fantastic, lifelong friends through home education.

Before I had kids, I worked as a primary school teacher.  Then I studied complementary medicine and became a kinesiologist using a lot of nutritional therapy in my practice.  Alongside that, I am also a qualified life coach and an ordained Interfaith Minister with a qualification in spiritual counselling.

Now you know something about me I hope you will see something of what lies behind the content of my Family Stress Relief Guide. I really hope you enjoy reading the guide and find some helpful information for your own family life.  I would love to hear from you.  Please let me know if there is anything you would like me to write about using the form below.
